Spring and Fall Shows

We have three spring and three fall shows featuring the best hot jazz from Ohio!

  • Music educators and music students are always FREE

Our shows feature a dance workshop hosted by SwingColumbus before the show. This is entirely optional, but it allows our guests to learn some dance steps to use on the dance floor.

    At the Clintonville Woman's Club
    Dave Greer’s Classic Stompers
    2:30 pm to 5 pm

    The Central Ohio Hot Jazz Society opens it's Fall Show and Dance season with Dave Greer's Classic Jazz Stompers. This 7 piece premier Trad Jazz band from Dayton let's audiences step back in time and enjoy energized vintage tunes from the 1920's and 30's. The band especially enjoys playing for swing dancers - so bring your dancing shoes and get ready to swing!

    Dave Kosmyna's New Orleans Feetwarmers
    2:30 pm to 5 pm

    New Orleans Dance Hall Music. Legendary Hot Jazz Trumpet Player Dave Kosmyna will be bringing in a great group of musicians, including John Grafing, Ben Herrick, Alex Belhaj, and rounding it out with Columbus native Steve Perakis on Bass.

    Hailing from Toledo, Dave started playing trumpet in the region's hot-jazz capital with bands led by Rick Grafing and Ray Heitger, and began leading his own groups. This has carried him through a wonderful career of teaching and passing on the skills it takes to play traditional jazz.

    1:30 pm to 6:30 pm

    Each year, the Central Ohio Hot Jazz Society concludes its season by hosting a hot jazz party at the Valley Dale Ballroom. We feature two incredible bands and pull out all the stops to make the event special! This show has a big wooden dance floor, so bring your dancing shoes!

    We also host a food drive each year and donate all non-perishable foods to a local pantry.
